About Our Astronomy Club
Our club is dedicated to amateur astronomers of all levels, offering a friendly space to learn, observe, and connect with others who share a passion for the night sky.
What to Expect at Our Meetings:
Each meeting features a guest speaker with expertise in astronomy or physics. Past topics have included:
- Quantum Physics and Mechanics
- The James Webb Space Telescope
- AI in Astronomy
- The Europa Mission to Jupiter
- The latest astronomical discoveries and news
Join us to explore the universe—one star at a time!
We welcome stargazers of all experience levels.
Monthly Meetings:
- When: 3rd Friday of each month at 7:00 PM
(No meetings in January, August, or December) - Where: Volo Bog State Natural Area Visitor Center at 28478 W. Brandenburg Rd., Ingleside, IL
- Format: In-person and via Zoom (hybrid)
Open to the Public – All Are Welcome!
Membership benefits include:
- Access to Observing sessions at designated LCAS dark-sky sites
- Ability to access and post content to the Forums
- Ability to submit your astrophotos to our Website Gallery
- Help in acquiring telescopes and guidance in using them
- Supporting community science education through our Outreach programs like AUTCL, LoanStar, etc.

The LCAS membership dues options are as shown below. Please note that all memberships are “Family Memberships”. Anyone living at the same address receives the same member benefits.

| Parsec family membership or renewal* (resides over 75 miles from Volo Bog State Natural Area) | $10 |
* Dues paid by new members joining in October through December will cover the current and following year.
